We’re all feeling the shift, aren’t we? From the way we light our homes to how we fuel our vehicles, everything is moving towards cleaner, greener alternatives. But the biggest transformation is happening on a much larger scale: India’s power grid. And at Jindal India Renewable Energy Limited (JIRE), we are right at the heart of it.
As a proud subsidiary of the BC Jindal Group of Companies, we’re carrying forward a legacy of industrial strength and innovation. While we’re not manufacturing renewable energy just yet, we’re actively investing in solar, wind, hybrid renewable energy systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to build the foundation of a cleaner, more reliable energy future for India.
We come with deep experience, thanks to the strong legacy of the Jindal India Thermal Power Plant, but what excites us today is leading India’s hybrid energy transition. Our focus? Developing energy systems that don’t just work when the sun is shining or the wind is blowing, but round-the-clock, no matter the weather.
Let’s take you behind the scenes of what we’re building.
If you’re wondering what makes hybrid systems so different, here’s the simple version: traditional solar or wind setups rely entirely on nature. So, when the sun sets or the wind slows down, the energy supply can get interrupted.
Hybrid renewable energy systems solve that by combining different sources, like solar and wind, with BESS, which stores extra power for later. Think of it as a reliable, always-on energy solution that keeps power flowing even when nature takes a break.
At JIRE, we’re not just talking about the future, we’re building it.
We recently secured a 150 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This project is a milestone for us; it reflects our ability to provide consistent, dependable power by smartly blending renewable sources with storage systems.
In another major development, we’ve received a Letter of Award for a 300 MW solar-plus-storage project from NHPC. This project highlights how we’re using storage to make solar power more dependable, even after sunset.
These projects reflect our commitment to deliver clean energy with real-world reliability, not just as an ideal, but as a functioning part of India’s energy infrastructure.
We’re proud to be part of the BC Jindal Group of Companies, with its strong roots in Indian industry. Our sister company, the Jindal India Thermal Power Plant, has long been known for efficient and responsible thermal energy generation.
We’re using that legacy of operational excellence to shape a cleaner future. While thermal still plays a role in India’s energy mix, we’re looking ahead, focusing on hybrid systems that provide sustainability without compromising on performance.
We believe in bold moves. And we’ve backed our vision with a major commitment: ₹15,000 crore in investments by 2030 towards renewable energy projects and RE component manufacturing.
This isn’t just a number; it’s a reflection of the scale at which we’re preparing to support India’s energy needs. From hybrid systems to solar panels and energy storage, we’re laying the groundwork for large-scale impact.
India is growing fast. And with that growth comes increased demand for electricity. But we can’t rely solely on any one source of energy. We need flexibility, reliability, and sustainability.
That’s where hybrid renewable energy systems come in, and that’s exactly what we’re building. With our projects and investments, we’re not only helping India meet its energy needs, we’re also contributing to cleaner air, more jobs, and a stronger energy backbone for the country.
We’re just getting started. From large-scale projects to long-term investments in solar, wind, and storage, we’re building a renewable portfolio that’s made for the future.
We may not be manufacturing power today, but we’re shaping the systems that will define how power is generated, stored, and distributed tomorrow. At Jindal India Renewable Energy Limited, we see energy not just as a resource but as a responsibility.
So here’s our promise: We’ll keep innovating, investing, and building. For a greener grid, for a stronger economy, and for a cleaner, brighter India.
